ENUGU: APC Stakeholders Speak With One Voice, Back Dr. Caleb Ani’s Re-election in Enugu South

Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu South Local Government Area have unanimously passed a vote of confidence on the Executive Chairman of the council, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Caleb Onyema Ani FCPA, and formally endorsed him for a second term in office.

The decision was reached at a well-attended APC stakeholders’ meeting convened to review party affairs, strengthen internal cohesion, and consolidate the party’s grassroots structure across the thirteen wards of the Enugu South.

Addressing the party leaders and members at the meeting, Hon. (Dr.) Ani expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in his leadership and reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive governance, party unity, and people-oriented development. In a gesture that drew wide approval from party faithful, the Chairman announced automatic return tickets for key party officials in recognition of their loyalty, dedication, and service to the party. Beneficiaries include the Enugu South APC Caretaker Chairman, Hon. Freedom Nnam; the Women Leader, Hon. Nkem Nnamani; the Secretary, Hon. Gabriel Nnaji; and the Youth Leader, Hon. Ikechukwu Egbo.

The motion for a vote of confidence on the Chairman was formally moved by Hon. Peter Nnaji, Member 1 Enugu State Local Government Service Commission, who commended Hon. (Dr.) Ani’s leadership style, administrative competence, and steadfast loyalty to the ideals of the APC. The motion endorsing the Chairman for a second tenure was moved by Hon. Duke Nwafor, former Deputy Chairman of Enugu South Local Government Area. Both motions were seconded by Dr. Sam Onyia, former Chairman of Enugu South Local Government Area, and were unanimously adopted by party members present.

In separate remarks, the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Rural Development, Deacon Okey Ogbodo, JP, and Hon. Chimaobi Atu, Member of the House of Representatives representing Enugu North and South Federal Constituency, and Dr. Steve Ike Ngwu former Chairman Enugu South local government, praised the Chairman’s leadership and political vision. They particularly highlighted his efforts at strengthening ward structures, empowering party executives, and expanding APC membership through sustained grassroots registration and mobilization. According to them, these initiatives have repositioned the party for greater electoral competitiveness in Enugu South.

The meeting attracted a broad spectrum of dignitaries and stakeholders, including Hon. Princess Obiajulu Ugwu, Chief Whip of the Enugu State House of Assembly representing Enugu South Rural Constituency; Hon. Paul Ogbe, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Mobilization; former local government chairmen and their deputies; former commissioners; supervisors and councillors; leaders of civil society organizations; Ohaneze Ndi Igbo representatives; community leaders; women groups; and youth leaders.

The resolutions adopted at the meeting reaffirmed the collective commitment of APC stakeholders in Enugu South to unity, sustained grassroots engagement, and continued support for the leadership of Hon. (Dr.) Caleb Onyema Ani as the party strengthens its structures and prepares for future political contests.
