The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Enugu State Council, has honoured the Enugu State Commissioner for Innovation, Science and Technology, Dr. Prince Lawrence Ezeh, with the “Beacon of Hope for Transformation 2026” award.
The award was presented on Thursday at the Enugu Press Centre in recognition of Dr. Ezeh’s contributions to technological development and public sector reform in the state.
Presenting the award, the State Council Chairman of NUJ, Comrade Obinna Ogbuka, described Dr. Ezeh as a visionary public servant whose leadership has strengthened confidence in Enugu’s digital transformation agenda. He commended the commissioner’s role in promoting innovation, supporting youth-driven enterprises, and fostering collaboration between the government and the media.
Ogbuka noted that the honour also reflected the union’s appreciation of Dr. Ezeh’s transparency and consistent engagement with journalists, particularly in communicating government policies and initiatives within the science and technology sector.
In his response, Dr. Ezeh expressed gratitude to the NUJ for what he described as a humbling recognition. He dedicated the award to the Governor and people of Enugu State and reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening institutional relationships between the media and government.
He emphasized the critical role of the media in societal development, urging journalists to uphold ethical standards anchored on accuracy, fairness, and responsibility. According to him, responsible journalism promotes accountability, informed public discourse, and effective policy implementation.
The event attracted journalists, government officials, and stakeholders from the state’s technology sector, highlighting sustained cooperation between the media and public institutions as Enugu advances its innovation-driven development agenda.
