The Enugu State Police Command has arrested 52 suspects, recovered firearms and ammunition, and rescued kidnapped victims in a series of coordinated operations carried out between January 24 and 30, 2026.
This was disclosed on Friday in the weekly crime statistics and operational report released by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe.
According to the report, those arrested include three armed robbery suspects, 12 kidnapping suspects, and three individuals linked to homicide or murder. The police also apprehended two suspects in connection with rape and defilement cases, four suspected cultists, and 28 others for various offences across the state.
The Command recovered one firearm, 20 rounds of ammunition of different calibres, and six stolen vehicles during the operations. Three kidnapped victims were also successfully rescued through sustained intelligence-led efforts.
Other items recovered included hard drugs and a large quantity of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp, reflecting an intensified crackdown on drug-related crimes.
SP Ndukwe attributed the success of the operations to the dedication of police personnel, improved intelligence gathering, and effective collaboration with other security agencies and members of the public.
He reassured residents of the Command’s resolve to sustain the fight against crime and maintain public safety in Enugu State, while urging citizens to continue supporting the police with timely and credible information to enhance proactive policing and rapid response to criminal activities.
