JUST IN: NUJ Enugu Inducts Ugwuanyi into Hall of Fame

The Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, Enugu State Chapter, has inducted the immediate past Governor of Enugu State and ambassadorial designate, Rt Hon Lawrence Ifeanyi, into its Hall of Fame.


Rt Hon Lawrence Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi was given this lifetime honor on Thursday during the 2025 Press Week, held at the International Conference Centre, Enugu.


Conducting the induction ceremony on behalf of NUJ, the Vice President of NUJ in Zone C, Comrade Ezenwa Adigwu, and Comrade Victor Ndukwe described Rt Hon Lawrence Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi as a journalist-friendly man who believes so much in the provision of a safe environment for journalists.


He stated that the former governor renovated the state NUJ secretariat, sponsored the training of journalists, and allowed for a safe environment for journalism practice in the state under his administration, adding that the organization is proud of what he has done.


Responding to the remarkable honor, Rt Hon Lawrence Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, who was represented by Dr. Ambrose Igboke, said he is happy with the honor.


He stated that, as one who believes so much in gratitude, the honor will forever remain with him.


Also speaking, the Chairman of the occasion, Senator Orji Ụzọ Kalu, who was represented by Rt Hon Chima Obieze, described Rt Hon Ugwuanyi as a leader and man of the people who worked immensely for the development of the state.


He stated that he is not surprised with the honor given to Rt Hon Ugwuanyi by the NUJ Enugu State Chapter, owing to his sterling performance and commitment to peace and progress.
