The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State has commenced the training of selected supervisors for the electronic registration of new and existing members as part of its preparations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Caretaker Committee Chairman of the party in the state, Dr. Ben Nwoye, disclosed this on Wednesday in Enugu while flagging off the training programme for supervisors drawn from the state’s 17 local government areas.
Dr. Nwoye said the party is targeting a membership strength of 1.5 million, noting that the e-registration initiative is designed to eliminate the frustrations prospective members previously faced when attempting to join the party.
According to him, after the initial training, the supervisors will step down the exercise to the grassroots, including political wards and polling units, to ensure seamless registration across the state.
He stressed that the era of individuals deliberately frustrating others from joining the party due to selfish interests was over, adding that the electronic process would promote transparency, inclusiveness, and efficiency.
Dr. Nwoye explained that beyond expanding membership, the exercise would enable the party to generate accurate data on its numerical strength, which would be crucial for strategic planning ahead of future elections.
He added that the data from the registration would also support the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and align with the development vision of Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, with a view to mobilising massive votes for their re-election in 2027.
Urging the electorate to embrace the exercise, the APC chairman described it as a serious and deliberate effort to reposition the party and make Enugu a model state in terms of party organisation and membership management.
Dr. Nwoye expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the training and commended the State Coordinator of the E-Registration exercise, Chief Flavour Eze, as well as the coordinators from the three senatorial zones, for ensuring a smooth commencement of the programme.
