The newly inaugurated Caretaker Committee of Ogonogo Eji Ndiuno, led by its Chairman, Mr. Emeka Ogbodo, on Wednesday paid a familiarization visit to the Executive Chairman of Nkanu West Local Government Area, Hon. John Chukwuma Ogbodo.
Receiving the team at the Council Headquarters, Hon. Ogbodo reaffirmed that peace, unity, fairness, and responsible leadership remain the foundation of grassroots governance in Nkanu West. He reminded the new committee members that their roles demand humility, dedication, and service above personal interest, stressing that leadership at the local level must reflect compassion, inclusiveness, and accountability to the people.
“Do not use your position to intimidate others,” he warned. “Governance today begins at the grassroots. What our communities need is selfless service, and God rewards every genuine effort to uplift our people.”
The Council Chairman further urged the committee to strongly key into the visionary and transformative agenda of the Executive Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, noting that every development stride taken in Nkanu West aligns with the Governor’s disruptive innovation model and his agenda of exponential growth.
“Whatever I do here in Nkanu West is in alignment with the innovative agenda of Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah,” Hon. Ogbodo stated. “I encourage you to follow the steps of this selfless and result-driven leader whose passion for development has become a global reference.”
He also cautioned the committee to learn from leadership errors experienced in other communities, citing the recent issues at Umueze as a reminder that negligence at the civic leadership level can create cracks that affect peace, order, and communal stability. He encouraged them to remain proactive, vigilant and to sustain constant monitoring of community affairs, particularly on matters that hint at criminal tendencies or suspected kidnapping activities.
“Leadership requires awareness and responsibility,” he concluded. “As PGs and Town Union leaders, you must know what happens in your community and take the right steps to maintain peace, order, and progressive advancement of Ogonogo Eji Ndiuno.”
