The leadership of the Enugu State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring overwhelming victories for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Peter Ndubusi Mbah in the 2027 general elections.

The Chairman of the seven-man Caretaker Committee of the party in the state, Dr. Ben Nwoye, made the declaration on Tuesday while inaugurating the Isi-Uzo Local Government and ward caretaker executives of the APC at Ikem, headquarters of the council area.

Nwoye, accompanied by other members of the committee—including the Secretary and former Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Barrister Eugene Odo, and former Minister of Aviation, Mrs. Fidelia Njeze—said the interim leadership would visit all 17 local government areas and 260 political wards to inaugurate their caretaker structures.

He explained that the new appointments became necessary following the October 9, 2025 dissolution of the Chief Ugochukwu Agballa-led state executive by the APC National Working Committee (NWC), which cited the need for greater unity and effectiveness within the party.

Addressing the newly inaugurated Isi-Uzo executives, Nwoye emphasized unity, teamwork, and grassroots mobilization, urging them to treat APC members as one family and to ensure the party delivers massively for Tinubu and Mbah in 2027. He also praised Governor Mbah’s decision to join the APC, describing it as a bold and strategic move that linked Enugu State to the “national political grid.”

Governor Mbah, represented by his Special Adviser on Political Matters, Chief Frank Anioma, expressed satisfaction with the peace and harmony within the party in Isi-Uzo. He said that if the unity persists, APC may not need to engage in extensive campaigning in the LGA ahead of the elections.

Explaining why he defected to the APC, Mbah likened his decision to a traveller whose vehicle breaks down mid-journey. According to him, the PDP was the faulty vehicle, while joining the APC served as the only viable alternative to reach the desired destination.

In his remarks, the Committee Secretary, Barr. Odo, charged the new executives to see themselves as “APC evangelizers” tasked with spreading the party’s message across every community. He noted that choosing Isi-Uzo as the inauguration kick-off point was deliberate, given its political significance.

Responding after receiving the APC flag and party symbols, the Isi-Uzo party leader and Council Chairman, Barrister Obiora Obeagu, assured the state leadership of the LGA’s readiness to deliver “over 100 percent votes” for Tinubu and Mbah in 2027. He said Governor Mbah’s extensive infrastructural projects across the state—including smart schools, Type-2 hospitals, and quality roads—would serve as strong campaign tools.

Nwoye and his team also inaugurated caretaker executives for Enugu East and Enugu South LGAs on the same day and are expected to conclude the exercise across all 17 LGAs and 260 wards by Friday.
