...lists Four Factors that propelled his emergence as the VC UNN.
One of the Country's most influential youth leaders cum public affairs analysist Monday Diamond Ani has congratulated the new Vice Chancellor of the University of Nigeria Nsukka Prof Simon Ortuanya on his emergence, stating the major factors that resulted to his emergence as the 62nd Vice Chancellor and the first Vice Chancellor of Nsukka extraction.
Monday Diamond Ani popularly known as Odoziobodo made this press release available to the news men on Tuesday morning.
According to him, Prof Ortuanya would perform creditably well as the Vice Chancellor of UNN given to his wealth of academic and administrative experience in his previous public service which were anchored on productive and excellent service delivery.
On the factors that propelled the emergence of Prof Ortuanya, Mr Diamond said:
"The Hard Truth about the UNN Vice Chancellorship and the emergence of Prof Ortuanya.
I have read on the Social Media and heard through grapevines about unnecessary claims and credits to some persons on the emergence of Prof Ortuanya(of Nsukka zone) as the Vice Chancellor of UNN.
The truth might not be as sweet as chocolate to some people but it has to be told for sanctity sake.
Putting the record straight, Prof Ortuanya's emergence is a product of Four Factors:
One;
The handwork of God(divine factor);
God's facfor is the highest factor because whatever God ordains to take place must surely take especially when the humans involved make efforts to actualize God's divine design.
Two;
Meritocracy, of a truth, Prof Ortuanya's academic and administrative experience made him a super qualified candidate just like some of the candidates, though on a scale of Comparism, his experience and personality are rare and unbeatable in that contest, hence, it is a case of square peg in a square hole.
Three;
President Tinubu's factor;
The University of Nigeria is a federal school and as such the President of the country is undoubtably the supreme decider of who occupies the seat of the VC ,though he would endorse a qualified candidate after due consultations with the neccesssary stakeholders.
Four and Finally;
Governor Peter Mbah's factor;
No matter the opinion of anyone on the just concluded election/selection process of the new UNN VC, Prof Ortuanya's emergence is largely creditted to Gov Peter Mbah and him alone.
Any other person or group irrespective of the assumably acclaimed role only showed solidarity to the cause not a proppellant role.
However,the process of the interviews, selection/election of Prof Ortuanya was a constitutional ritual necessity which are inevitable within the system.
For anyone who cares to know, Gov Mbah's endorsement of Prof Ortuanya as VC UNN took place as far back the month of February 2025 , even before the immediate past Acting VC Prof Ujam was appointed. So Prof Ortuanya's matter was long settled between Gov Mbah and President Tinubu.
So people should stop these political razzmatazz by taking credit to another person's efforts.
It will shock you to know that some Nsukka Leaders even uptill a week to the Election were still pushing and mounting pressure for their own candidates from Nsukka be endorsed by President Tinubu, some top Political Leaders in Nigeria including Governors, Senators and so on also mounted pressure on the President to endorse their own candidates but had to succumb when it was obvious to them that Gov Mbah had long cemented his choice with the man who had the ultimate power to give the position.
It was not a child's play,it was deeper than what some people thought ,but you know in Igbo adage ; "Nwoke nucha ogu, nwanyi enwelu akuko".
While I commend the good people of Nsukka zone for their solidarity and jubilation over this unprecedented development, I urge them to pray and support Prof Ortuanya to succeed beyond expectations and understand that though Prof Ortuanya is from Nsukka zone, UNN is not an Nsukka school,but a Nigeria school.
So Prof Ortuanya is a Nigeria VC and should be allowed to deliver in his mandate as expected for the betterment of the School and society at large.
