Maduka University Maintains Set Standard, Matriculates 664 Students

Maduka University, located in Ekwegbe, Enugu State, has continued to uphold the high standards it established in 2024, successfully matriculating 664 students during its second matriculation ceremony held on Friday, April 11, 2025.

In the previous 2023/2024 academic session, the university matriculated over 600 students—an impressive feat for a newly established private institution.

During the ceremony held at the university’s stadium, Chancellor and Founder, Dr. Samuel Maduka Onyishi, reaffirmed the university’s core mission, saying:

“Maduka University remains a highpoint of the pact I made with God on the occasion of my 50th birthday to alter my society significantly and in a positive way.”

Dr. Onyishi emphasized the institution’s focus on value-based, entrepreneurship-driven education, in line with their motto: ‘…The place for the transformation you seek’. He noted that the university’s programmes are designed to address deficits in traditional educational models while fostering innovation and societal impact.

Vice Chancellor, Prof. Charles Ogbulogo, expressed pride in the university’s rapid growth, highlighting the learner-centric approach and commitment to quality teaching.

“We engage quality teachers with rich, enthusiastic, interactive, and transformative learning experiences,” he said.

Prof. Ogbulogo stated that Maduka University has received National Universities Commission (NUC) approval for all its programmes, which span across colleges of medicine, health sciences, nursing, pharmacy, law, business and social sciences, engineering, and computing.

“In just one year and five months, we have been blessed with close to 1300 students,” he revealed.

Matriculation Lecturer, Chief John-Nnia Nwodo, former President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, praised Dr. Onyishi and his team for their visionary leadership. He reminisced about the golden days of Nigerian university education and lamented the current decline in educational standards. However, he commended Maduka University for offering quality infrastructure, reliable power and water supply, and committed faculty.

“You, as our children, cannot get the quality of education we got, but those of you in Maduka University are privileged,” he noted.

Goodwill messages were delivered by dignitaries including the Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah (represented by the Commissioner for Environment); President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief John Azuka-Mbata; **Chairman of the Board
