...Bid Farewell to a Remarkable Matriarch

In a powerful show of unity and compassion, the women wing of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Enugu East Senatorial Zone stood side by side with their Zonal Chairman, Hon. Nnamdi Nwafor, as he laid his beloved mother, Mrs. Theresa Nwafor (née Nnaji), to rest.

The burial, which took place on Friday, 28th February 2025, in Aniyi Amagunze, Nkanu East Local Government Area, was not just a solemn farewell to a matriarch but a testament to the deep bonds of family and solidarity that define the PDP Women of Enugu East Zone.

Led by their Zonal Woman Leader, Hon. Barr. Theresa Chika Ogbodo, the women arrived to pay their last respect to a lovely woman, with their presence speaking louder than words. They came not only to mourn but to uphold a pillar of strength, to stand as sisters beside their chairman in this moment of grief.

In her speech, the Zonal Women Leader, Hon. Barr. Ogbodo captured the depth of their emotions in a heartfelt tribute; "The passing of our Zonal Chairman’s mother is a great loss to all of us. Mama was not just a mother to him but a leader, a pillar of strength, and a beacon of wisdom to people around her. She was a woman of virtue, a mother to many, whose kindness and guidance extended beyond the walls of her home. She nurtured, she counseled, and she led by example instilling in us the values of love, service, and unity. Her absence will be deeply felt, but her legacy will remain alive in the lives she touched."

Taking a moment to offer words of comfort to Hon. Nnamdi Nwafor and his grieving family, Hon. Barr. Ogbodo added: "However, in the midst of this pain, we take solace in the fact that God, in His infinite wisdom, knows best. Though we may not fully understand His will, we find peace in knowing that Mama has completed her journey with dignity and grace. She has left behind a legacy of love, a family built on strong values, and a community forever enriched by her presence."

With deep empathy, she called on the women and all those present to continue to support the Nwafor family in this difficult time.

"Though we cannot question God, we pray that He fills the void of a mother in the heart of our dear Chairman and grants him and his family the strength to bear this loss. May Mama’s soul rest in eternal peace, and may her memory continue to inspire us all to live with love, kindness, and unwavering faith." she said.

Her words, filled with emotion, resonated with everyone present, offering comfort not only to the bereaved family but to all who had known Mrs. Theresa Nwafor. A woman of grace and fortitude, she was a guiding light in the community, and her departure left an undeniable void.

Among the notable members of the Enugu East PDP Women who graced the occasion include: Hon. Carol Ogbu (Debez), Hon. Rose Eze, Hon. Ada Ogbu, Hon. Oby Chukwu, Hon. Uzoamaka Nnamani (Junior), Hon. Ann Agbo, Hon. Chief Grace Offia, Hon. Onyinye Nnamani and a host of others.

Their presence was a powerful reminder that in the face of sorrow, no member of their political family stands alone. As the funeral rites progressed, the atmosphere was filled with prayers, solemn hymns, and the quiet resolve of those who knew that Mrs. Theresa Nwafor’s legacy would continue to live on through her son and the many lives she had touched.

In a world where politics often distances people, the Enugu East PDP Women demonstrated that leadership is not just about governance it is about humanity, about standing together when it matters most.
