The Executive Chairman of Nkanu East Local Government Area, and chairman Association of Local Government of Nigeria, ALGON, Enugu State chapter, Hon. Sydney Okechukwu Edeh today, 25th March 2025 inaugurated the Supervisory councillors and SPAs at the council headquarters Amagunze.
The event which witnessed the oath of office and oath of allegiance taken by the newly appointed supervisors and special advisers officiated by clerk of the House Dr Mrs Vera Emihe.
The newly appointed supervisors includes;
1. Hon. Peter Onwuchekwa Okafor - Works
2. Hon. Ogom Chukwuka - Education
3. Hon. Chikata Okoro - Finance
4. Hon. Ngene John - Agriculture
5. Rev. Humphrey Okoh - Health

Hon. Afam Edeh - Political Matters.
Speaking shortly after the swearing in ceremony at the council headquarters, Amagunze, Hon. Sydney Okechukwu Edeh congratulated the appointees on their successful screening and confirmation by the legislative arm, emphasizing that they were carefully selected from among many qualified individuals across their wards. He admonished the appointees to align themselves with Governor Peter Mbah's vision and contribute meaningfully through proposals and programmes that will help not only the local government but to move the state forward.
The chairman charged them to discharge their duties with diligence, stating that team work is required in order to discharge their duties effectively.
He stressed that it would no longer be business as usual, urging the new appointees to bring their wealth of experience to bear, justify the trust placed in them, and take their responsibilities seriously.
The Chairman also used the same medium to list projects his administration embarked as a commitment to changing the narrative, improving lives, and contributing to the socioeconomic advancement of the local government and making it the pride of all in the state and country, as he charged the appointees to get to work immediately.
"We must strive to make Nkanu East Local Government a model of excellence, growth, and development in an atmosphere of peace. I urge you to work diligently, uphold the trust placed in you by the people, and embrace the principle of inclusivity,” he stated.
In a vote of thanks on behalf of the appointees, Hon. Ogom Chukwuka the supervisor for Education, thanked the chairman for finding them worthy and pledged their total commitment and dedication while discharging their assigned duties.
In their goodwill messages, the deputy chairman of Nkanu East LGA, Hon Paul Okwor, the State PDP treasurer, Hon Patty Okoh, among others that spoke, commended the council chairman, Hon. Sydney Okechukwu Edeh , for constituting and inaugurating his team, and congratulated the new appointees on their successful swearing-in and urged them to rally support around the administration to ensure the realization of its set goals.
