2025 INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY CELEBRATION: NKANU EAST LGA STEALS THE SHOW WITH MASSIVE EMPOWERMENT, DISPLAY OF CULTURE

The International Women’s Day celebration in Enugu, organized by the Wife of the Governor of Enugu State, Her Excellency, Mrs. Nkechinyere Mbah, was a grand event that highlighted the rich cultural heritage of the state. One of the standout moments of the occasion was the cultural showcase by the 17 Local Government Areas, where each LGA exhibited their traditional attire, delicacies, music, dance, and indigenous occupations. Among them, Nkanu East Local Government Area, led by Mrs. Rita Edeh, stole the show, leaving a lasting impression with their outstanding performance.

The event, which aimed to celebrate the contributions of women in society while promoting cultural preservation, provided a platform for each LGA to display their unique heritage. The Nkanu East delegation captivated the audience with their vibrant traditional dance, expertly prepared local delicacies such as Okpa, Abacha, and Ofe Akwu, and an engaging storytelling session that reflected the wisdom of their ancestors. Their flawless execution and deep cultural pride made them the highlight of the day.

As the cultural showcase commenced, Mrs. Rita Edeh, Executive Chairman of Nkanu East LGA, delivered a stirring welcome address, setting the tone for an event that blended celebration with a call to action for women’s empowerment and cultural sustainability.
