The Enugu State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure has issued a public service announcement alerting citizens about a scam involving an individual impersonating the Honourable Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure. The fraudster, identified as Lekan Itunu, is using the Commissioner’s and Governor’s images on WhatsApp to falsely promote a mass housing scheme, requesting payments into a fraudulent account. The Ministry urges the public to verify any such claims and report suspicious activities to the relevant authorities.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
IMPERSONATION AND SCAM ALERT
The Enugu State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure hereby issues an alert about a scammer who is impersonating the Honourable Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure to defraud unsuspecting members of the public.
The scammer, identified as Lekan Itunu on TrueCaller, uses phone number 08036620427 with the Commissioner’s and Governor’s pictures on his WhatsApp profile.
Among his fraudulent claims is that the State Government is embarking on a mass housing scheme for which interested contractors and buyers are asked to pay money into an FCMB account with the name, Okeke George, and number 1027235186.
The Ministry advises the public to conduct due diligence to confirm the authenticity of such purported projects before making any payments.
