Gov Peter Mbah’s Leadership Shines Through as President Tinubu Commissions Key Projects in Enugu

 – Hon. Tony Obiora Nwagbo

President Bola Tinubu’s visit to Enugu State on Saturday, 4th of January 2025 was a defining moment for both the state and its people. The occasion wasn’t just a ceremonial one; it was a testament to the remarkable progress under the leadership of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah. As a committed supporter of Governor Mbah and an executive member of the Enugu State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), I am deeply proud of the incredible strides the governor has made in transforming Enugu into a model of progress.

During his visit, President Tinubu commissioned a series of groundbreaking projects that showcase the vision and determination of Governor Mbah’s administration. These aren’t just infrastructural projects; they are a reflection of a carefully crafted plan to improve the lives of Enugu citizens across various sectors, from education and healthcare to security and economic development.

One of the most significant aspects of President Tinubu’s visit was the commissioning of 30 Enugu Smart Green Schools. These schools are part of a broader educational reform under Governor Mbah’s leadership, aimed at providing Enugu’s youth with the tools and resources needed to succeed in the modern world. These schools are not just about classrooms and textbooks; they are designed to create a learning environment where students are equipped with the skills to compete globally, ensuring a brighter future for the younger generation.

Complementing this educational initiative are 60 fully equipped Type-2 Primary Healthcare Centres, which were also inaugurated during the visit. These healthcare centres are a critical part of Governor Mbah’s plan to make healthcare accessible to all, especially in rural areas. The focus on healthcare is evident in the state’s commitment to delivering essential medical services to its citizens, a commitment that speaks volumes about the governor’s dedication to improving the quality of life for all Enugu residents.

Governor Mbah’s vision goes beyond education and healthcare. During the visit, President Tinubu also witnessed the completion of several important infrastructure projects, including urban roads within Enugu City. One of the standout projects is the ongoing construction of the Owo-Ubahu-Amankanu-Umuaro-Neke-Ikem road, a crucial link connecting Enugu East to the northern part of Nigeria. The completion of these roads is a significant step toward improving connectivity and mobility across the state, which will, in turn, boost economic activity and create new opportunities for Enugu’s people.

Governor Mbah’s ambitious road-building program, which includes the awarding of 71 road projects, is unprecedented in the state’s history. This level of commitment to improving Enugu’s infrastructure demonstrates the governor’s focus on not just modernizing the state but also making it a place where citizens can easily access resources, opportunities, and services.

Equally important is Governor Mbah’s focus on security. The commissioning of a state-of-the-art Command and Control Centre, along with 150 patrol vehicles equipped with AI-enhanced surveillance cameras, underscores the administration’s commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of Enugu citizens. Governor Mbah understands that security is the foundation of any prosperous society, and he has taken decisive steps to enhance law enforcement and foster a safer environment for everyone in the state.

In addition to these crucial projects, the governor’s administration has tackled one of the most basic yet essential issues: access to clean drinking water. Under his leadership, a water emergency was declared, and within just 180 days, the state had delivered over 100 million cubic meters of water to the Enugu metropolis. This swift action to address service state’s water crisis is a clear example of Governor Mbah’s determination to provide essential services to his people without delay.

Governor Mbah’s focus on economic development is equally impressive. Through strategic investments in sectors like agriculture and e-commerce, his administration is working to create a robust, diversified economy for Enugu State. The acquisition of over 2,000 hectares of land for agricultural development and the promotion of local industries are just a few examples of how the governor is laying the groundwork for long-term economic growth. These initiatives will create jobs, boost local economies, and help Enugu regain its status as a key agricultural player in the South-East.

Governor Mbah’s approach to governance is rooted in transparency, accountability, and inclusivity. His administration has prioritized citizen engagement, ensuring that the government remains responsive to the needs of the people it serves. It is this commitment to good governance that is earning Enugu’s citizens the services, opportunities, and attention they deserve.

As a passionate supporter of Governor Mbah, I have witnessed firsthand the progress that has been made in such a short time. The vision is clear, the execution is strong, and the results speak for themselves. Enugu State is undeniably on the path to becoming a beacon of progress in Nigeria, and this is just the beginning.

I encourage all Enugu residents, political leaders, and stakeholders to continue supporting Governor Peter Mbah as he works tirelessly to build a better, more prosperous state. The future of Enugu is bright, and under Governor Mbah’s visionary leadership, we are poised for even greater achievements in the years to come.

Enugu State is not just witnessing progress; it is experiencing a transformation. With every project, every initiative, and every step forward, Governor Mbah is proving that the state’s best days are ahead of us. Together, we will continue to build a stronger, more inclusive Enugu for present and future generations.
