Engr. Pastor Beloved-Dan Anike, Chairman of Enugu East Local Government Area, unveiled a ₦20.734 billion budget for 2025. This budget represents a remarkable 400% increase from the previous year’s allocation, signaling a robust commitment to development and governance.

The budget, titled "Budget of Economic Growth Through Partnership," aligns with the broader objectives of the Enugu State government under Governor Dr. Peter Mbah. Emphasizing capital development, 80% of the budget—₦16.6 billion—has been earmarked for infrastructure and developmental projects. A significant portion of this allocation, ₦2.14 billion, is dedicated to addressing the LGA’s 200-kilometer road deficit, complementing the state government’s road initiatives.

Other key sectors, including education, agriculture, and health, have also received substantial allocations, with ₦2.07 billion, ₦730 million, and ₦690 million, respectively.

In addition to the budget, the Chairman highlighted the progress of the revised ₦2 billion 2024 budget, citing an impressive 80% implementation rate. Notably, 12 new 500 KVA transformers were procured and will be distributed across the council’s 12 wards to address electricity challenges. The 2025 budget includes an additional ₦300 million for enhancing power connectivity in underserved areas.

During the presentation, Igwe Emmanuel Ugwu, Chairman of the Enugu East Traditional Rulers Council, commended the chairman’s proactive leadership, especially his efforts to emulate the state governor’s governance model. The event also saw the official handover of the transformers to community leaders.

This bold move reflects the commitment of Engr. Anike and his administration to bring about economic growth, infrastructure improvement, and shared prosperity for the people of Enugu East.
