The People's Democratic Party (PDP) Enugu East Senatorial Zone paid a heartfelt condolence visit to the family of the late Hon. Mrs. Josephine Nneoma Nwokedike on Sunday, November 24, 2024, at her residence in Enugu. Late Hon. Mrs. Nwokedike, until her passing, served as the Deputy Chairman of PDP, Enugu South Local Government Area. Her sudden death has left the party and the community in mourning.

The high-powered delegation was led by Barr. Theresa Chika Ogbodo, the PDP Zonal Women Leader for Enugu East Senatorial Zone, who expressed profound sympathy to the bereaved family on behalf of the party and her team. During the visit, Barr. Ogbodo described the late Hon. Mrs. Josephine Nwokedike as a passionate, active, and open-minded woman who had been an integral part of the PDP women's group. She further lauded Mrs. Nwokedike’s unwavering dedication to causes that benefitted not only the women of her local government area but also the broader community.

Barr. Ogbodo noted that the late Mrs. Nwokedike was not just a political figure but also a great philanthropist whose acts of kindness and generosity had touched the lives of many, leaving a lasting legacy. She emphasized that Mrs. Nwokedike’s contributions to both the party and society will always be remembered.

The delegation also included Rt. Hon. Chief Mrs. Lolo Grace Ofia, former Councillor of Achara Layout West. In her emotional address, she extended heartfelt condolences to the grieving family and offered prayers for God’s continued guidance and strength, especially for the children Mrs. Nwokedike left behind. Chief Mrs. Ofia particularly highlighted the deep bond shared between the late leader and her child, who had been devotedly caring for her until her passing.

Hon. Stella Nnamani, Deputy Youth Leader of the Awknawnu Welfare Association and former PDP aspirant for Enugu State House of Assembly, also spoke to newsmen during the visit. She described Hon. Mrs. Nwokedike as a political mother, mentor, and a figure who had imparted valuable lessons. She recalled how the late Mrs. Nwokedike, a strong and devoted PDP member, had always been a beacon of strength and support in the party. Hon. Nnamani fondly remembered her as a well-respected figure in the Enugu political landscape who had been involved in politics long before many of the younger generation.

“We are all deeply saddened by her passing,” Hon. Nnamani stated. “She was not just a political mentor but a motherly figure who taught us the true values of commitment and leadership. We will continue to honor her memory by supporting her family, especially during the burial activities. We encourage the family to find solace in the fact that she lived a life of great purpose.”

In response, the bereaved husband of the late Hon. Mrs. Josephine Nwokedike expressed deep gratitude to the PDP delegation for their visit, kind words, and support during this challenging time. He thanked the party leaders for their compassion and assured them that the family was finding strength in the overwhelming outpouring of love and solidarity from across the party.

The visit served as a poignant reminder of the profound impact the late Hon. Mrs. Josephine Nwokedike had on both her family and the wider Enugu community. The PDP Enugu East Senatorial Zone pledged to continue offering their full support as the family prepares for the funeral and related activities.
