The taciturn and humble council chairman of Igbo-Eze North council, Hon. Uche Ogalla has continued to prove the naysayers wrong. Since assumption of office, the ab inito Port Harcourt based trained Petroleum engineer has continued to make positive and people oriented headlines on daily basis. The yardstick to measure any government is its sensitivines to the People's feelings, It is crystal clear that in Igbo-Eze North that we have a humane government with a listening ear. Hon. Ogalla had on Tuesday 19th November, swiftly suspended the operation of the local government task force saddled with the task of managing market congestion and enforcing speed limits of vehicles and motorcycles in the council area. The suspension brought a sigh of relief to the residents as the task force abandoned their standard operating procedures cum accountabilities and turned themselves into monster. The residents like the Israelites in Egypt suffered this plague till the amiable chairman Hon. Ogalla came to their rescue.
In a release by the special assistant on media and publicity to the chairman Mr. Eze Chinecherem Godswill, the chairman ordered the immediate suspension of the task force due to allegation of extortion. According to the statement *" The decision aims to address concerns about the task force conduct and ensure a fair and safe environment for residents "* he further stated that the chairman will review the task force's activities and develop new strategies. This action is in tandem with Gov. Mba's policy of zero tolerance for extortion in the state. Encomiums has been poured on Hon. Ogalla for living up to his campaign promises. It is a breath of fresh air to the people who suffered untold hardship in the hands of the task force.
The people are still basking in the euphoria of massive grading of roads in the 20 political wards of the council area. The senior special assistant on infrastructures Hon. Eke Desmond has earlier intimated on the project on 2nd November during a visit to some wards, only yesterday 22nd November, Hon. Ogalla in company of some council officials including the secretary to the local council Hon. Ben Onyekachi Eya, the Igbo-Eze North PDP chairman Hon. Dr. Solomon Ogili and others went on inspection of the roads, the following places were visited Umuogbo Ekposhi-Igbele link road, Uda, Amufie, Uroshi, Amachalla, Ikpamodo, Ikpuiga, Okpo etc.
On security, Hon. Ogalla has earlier on 6th November, 2024 invited the president generals of the town unions in a very important meeting to keep them abreast of the government policies and plan, his appointment of a chief security officer of the local government in the person of an accomplished and retired police officer Mr. Okechukwu Ali was a masterstroke, the CSO has embarked on tour of the communities to get first hand information on how to tackle security challenges. on the 5th of November, in company of the commander of neighborhood watch Mr. Odo Anselm, Ogrute and Imufu communities were visited.
So far, Hon. Ogalla has shown tenacity of purpose, strong political sagacity and political will to navigate the leadership of the most savvy local government in the state. The people are the centerpiece of his government hence his people oriented government.
