ENUGU SOUTH: Igbariam Street Primary School to Represents Enugu State in National JETS Competition in Abuja

The Igbariam Street Primary School II, located in Achara Layout, Enugu South Local Government Area (LGA), is set to represent Enugu State in the national Junior Engineers, Technicians, and Scientists (JETS) Quiz competition in Abuja. This significant event, organized by the Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science, and Technology, will test students on foundational science subjects, including Basic Science, Basic Technology, Basic Mathematics, and Basic Computer, focusing on the primary school category.


The announcement of this achievement was made by Mrs. Constance Okorie, the Education Secretary of Enugu South LGA, during a courtesy visit to Hon. Caleb Ani, Chairman of the Enugu South LGA. Mrs. Okorie explained that two pupils, Proper Kamsiyochukwu Ugwu and Esther Chiamanda Okey Edeh, emerged as winners of the recently concluded JETS Quiz competition organized by the Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board (ENSUBEB). This competition, held on October 16, 2024, at Ekulu Primary School Enugu, recognized Igbariam Street Primary School 1 & 2 as the top achievers in the Enugu East Zone, earning them the opportunity to represent the state at the national level.


Expressing pride in the accomplishments of Igbariam Street Primary School, Mrs. Okorie stated, "It is with humility and a sense of responsibility that we inform the Executive Chairman that our school has been consistent in making Enugu South Local Government proud over the years in both curricular and extracurricular activities."


Mrs. Rita Okafor, the Head Teacher of Igbariam Street Primary School, provided further insight into the school's achievements, highlighting that Enugu South Local Government children, particularly from Igbariam Street Primary School II, have consistently excelled at all levels of the JETS competition. She attributed the success to the motivation and support provided by the Education Secretary, which played a critical role in the students' accomplishments.


In his response, Hon. Caleb Ani, Chairman of Enugu South LGA, expressed his heartfelt congratulations to the pupils, applauding both the dedication of the Head Teacher and the consistent support of the Education Secretary. "We are very happy, and on behalf of the Local Government, we extend our congratulations for this victory. We are optimistic that your participation in Abuja will be successful, and we look forward to you making Enugu South and Enugu State proud," Hon. Ani remarked. He emphasized the importance of continuous support for educational programs to inspire other students and highlighted the significant role these achievements play in his administration's agenda.


Furthermore, Hon. Ani commended Mrs. Okorie for her steadfast dedication, which has elevated the school and pupils to a platform of national recognition.
