In a proactive move aimed at enhancing healthcare delivery in Udenu, the Chairman of Udenu Local Government Area, Akachukwu Eze Akachukwu , conducted an unscheduled working visit to the Obollo Afor Health Center this afternoon. The visit was part of his ongoing effort to assess the operational conditions of health facilities within the LGA.
Accompanied by Hon. Onyekachi C. Ugwu, and his Chief of Staff, Dr. Okwudili Jude, Akachukwu met with Mrs. Josephine, the Caregiver in-charge of the health center. She guided the Chairman and his team through various sections of the facility, providing insights into the challenges faced by staff and patients alike.
During the inspection, the Chairman noted several areas requiring urgent attention, including outdated medical equipment, insufficient staffing, and general maintenance issues. “Our health centers are the backbone of our community’s health system, and it is essential that they are well-equipped to meet the needs of our people,” the Council Chair stated.
Mrs. Josephine expressed her appreciation for the Chairman’s visit and highlighted some critical areas in need of improvement. She emphasized the importance of reliable medical supplies and better training for staff to enhance service delivery.
In response to these concerns, Akachukwu made an emphatic commitment to revamp the health center. “We will work diligently to upgrade this facility and ensure that it meets contemporary healthcare standards. Our administration is dedicated to improving the quality of healthcare for our people,” he said.
As Akachukwu and his team left the health center, he reiterated his resolve to prioritize healthcare initiatives in the Local Government’s agenda. With plans to put together a comprehensive action plan for the health center’s revamp, the current administration in Udenu is aligning with Gov. Peter Mbah’s efforts aimed at ensuring sustainable and effective healthcare delivery in the rural areas.
