Below is the true story of  what transpired that led to the death of Enugu boy, Chikwado Eze;

Chikwado Eze, a young man full of dreams and on the brink of a new life abroad, has died in a tragic and misguided fortification ritual. The incident took place in his hometown of Ugbaike, Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area, Enugu State.

Chikwado had recently obtained his visa and was preparing to embark on his journey overseas. Excited about his future, he returned home to share the good news with his father, Uwakwe Eze. However, instead of celebrating this milestone, Uwakwe suggested they consult a native doctor to perform a fortification ritual that would supposedly protect Chikwado and ensure his success abroad.

Following his father's advice, Chikwado, full of trust and hope, accompanied Uwakwe to meet Onuwa, a well-known native doctor in the community. Onuwa proposed a ritual that involved burying Chikwado alive for an hour and thirty minutes. The belief was that this act would grant him spiritual protection and enhance his fortune abroad.

With faith in the process and his family by his side, Chikwado agreed. He was buried alive, expecting to be exhumed after the allotted time. However, when the hour and a half passed, and he was finally dug up, the unthinkable had happened—Chikwado was no longer breathing. The ritual, which was meant to safeguard his future, ended his life instead.

The police were quickly notified, and Uwakwe, alongside the native doctor, Onuwa, has been arrested in connection with Chikwado’s death.

This tragic loss has sent shockwaves through the community, raising questions about the dangers of cultural practices and the desperation that sometimes leads people down dark and misguided paths. Chikwado’s death is not just the loss of a young life, but the shattering of hopes and dreams for a bright future abroad.

As the community mourns, this incident serves as a sobering reminder to reject harmful superstitions and seek safer, more rational paths in pursuit of success.

May Chikwado Eze's soul rest in peace, and may this tragedy open conversations about the dangers of harmful practices, ensuring that such a heartbreaking loss is never repeated.
