In a bid to assess the current state of development at Eke Ozzi Market in Ogrute, the Executive Chairman of Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area, Hon. Michael Uche Ogalla, paid a visit to the market on Friday, 25th October. He was accompanied by the Traditional Ruler of Ogrute Ulo, His Royal Highness, Igwe Wilfred Ekere.
During the visit, Hon. Ogalla toured both the old and new sections of the market, engaging with traders and community leaders. His primary objective was to evaluate the market’s development and identify areas for improvement, especially regarding infrastructure and traffic management, which are crucial for maintaining smooth operations on busy market days.
In addressing the challenges faced by the market, Hon. Ogalla emphasized the need to decongest the access routes leading to Eke Ozzi Market. He announced his intention to establish a committee tasked with implementing strategies to alleviate traffic congestion. "We will launch a committee that will focus on decongesting the access route to the market. This will bring order and sanity not only to Eke Ozzi but also to Eke Amufie and all the major markets in Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area," he stated.
The Chairman further stressed that easing traffic flow on market days is essential for promoting commerce and ensuring the safety and convenience of traders and visitors. The committee will be responsible for proposing long-term solutions that enhance the accessibility of markets throughout the LGA.
This initiative aligns with Hon. Ogalla's broader development goals, which aim to foster economic growth by improving local infrastructure and supporting community livelihoods.
