In his move to enhance security in the rural communities, the Executive Governor of of Anambra State, Prof Charles Soludo of has appointed Prince Kenneth Emeakayi, a former Commissioner for Works, as the Special Adviser on Community Security. Emeakayi previously served as Commissioner for Works and as the Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) during the administration of the late Dr. Chinwoke Mbadinuju.
At the swearing-in ceremony, Governor Soludo emphasized the critical importance of community security as a cornerstone of his administration's priorities. He highlighted that the rise in crimes such as armed robbery and cultism across certain regions of the state demands an intensified focus on security measures. Governor Soludo expressed confidence that Emeakayi’s addition to the security team would lead to a heightened state of security across Anambra.
In his response, Emeakayi expressed gratitude to Governor Soludo and pledged to work diligently toward establishing Anambra as a secure environment for residents and visitors. He noted that his approach would center on community policing, intelligence gathering, and collaboration with various security agencies to preemptively address criminal activities.
Christian Aburime, Press Secretary to Governor Soludo, further stated that this appointment reflects the government’s strengthened commitment to combat rising insecurity in specific areas of the state. "With the support of relevant stakeholders, including the police and the State House of Assembly, Mr. Emekakayi is expected to bring his wealth of experience in community development to bear in the fight against crime," Aburime remarked.
