Enugu LG Election: Nkanu West PDP Chairmanship Candidate, Hon John Ogbodo Unveils Manifesto, Inaugurates Campaign Council Ahead 21st September Election

 

Ahead of the 21st September Local Government Council elections in Enugu State, the People's Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Nkanu West Local Government Area, Hon. John Ogbodo, and his running mate Hon. Nnam Friday Samuel unveiled their action plan during a well-attended meeting with PDP stakeholders. The gathering, held in Nkanu West, also marked the official inauguration of his Campaign Council, signaling the start of a comprehensive ward-to-ward campaign.

During his speech, Hon. Ogbodo commended Governor Peter Mbah for his visionary leadership in Enugu State, which has set the tone for development across various sectors. He expressed his commitment to aligning his policies with the governor's vision while addressing the unique needs of Nkanu West.

The event also featured the announcement of key members of the campaign team. Hon. Onyeka Onwe was named the Director-General of the Campaign Organization, Chief Moses Aniemeka (Nnamuzie) as the Deputy Director-General, and Barr. Chidi Ani as the Secretary. Hon. Ogbodo urged them to work tirelessly and collaboratively to secure victory for the PDP in the forthcoming election. He emphasized the importance of unity and collective effort in ensuring a smooth and successful campaign.

While highlighting key areas of his manifesto, Hon. Ogbodo reiterated his candidacy as one of Hope, Peace, Unity, and Inclusion for all in Nkanu West. His action plan, designed to address critical developmental challenges, focuses on six pivotal areas:

Speaking on Education, Hon. Ogbodo pledged to prioritize educational infrastructure, including the renovation of classrooms, libraries, and science labs. Scholarships, bursaries, and grants for underprivileged students were also a major feature of his education plan. He also stressed the importance of vocational training centers and collaborations with higher institutions to provide specialized training and boost youth employment.

For Infrastructur, Hon Ogbodo’s Strategic planning aimed at modernizing layouts, improving drainage, and constructing rural roads. He also promised to ensure that rural communities have access to clean, potable water by working closely with the state government.

His healthcare agenda focused on upgrading primary health centers, providing mobile health clinics for underserved areas, and promoting preventive health programs like vaccination campaigns. He also stressed the need for mental health support services across the local government area.

To tackle insecurity, Hon. Ogbodo proposed a community policing model in collaboration with state security agencies. He promised to enhance local surveillance technology and establish neighborhood watch groups to monitor and prevent crime.

Hon. Ogbodo recognized agriculture as a crucial sector for economic growth and pledged to introduce modern farming techniques, establish cooperatives, and create market linkages to ensure farmers receive fair prices for their produce.

He also expressed his dedication to youth and women empowerment through the creation of sports, arts, and leadership training programs. Mentorship initiatives and poverty alleviation projects aimed at fostering inclusion and economic independence were key components of his empowerment agenda.

The manifesto unveiling and campaign council inauguration was attended by high-ranking officials and political figures in Nkanu West Local Government Area. Distinguished guests included Rt. Hon. Nnolim Nnaji, member representing Nkanu East and West in the Federal House of Representatives; Hon. Iloabuchi Aniagu, member representing Nkanu West in the Enugu State House of Assembly; Hon. Barr. Steve Oruruo, Deputy Chairman of Enugu State PDP; and Prof. Ikechukwu Emmanuel Obi, the Honourable Commissioner for Health in Enugu State.

Other notable attendees were Hon. Dan Nwomeh, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media; Hon. Uche Ejim, immediate past Chairman of Nkanu West Local Government Area; Barr. Ray Nnaji, PDP Youth Leader in Nkanu West; Hon. Sunday Onovo, Nkanu West PDP Women Leader Hon. Mrs. Helen Nnamani; former Chairmen of Nkanu West LGA; and a host of other stakeholders.

His manifesto reflects his dedication to driving sustainable development across key sectors, ensuring a better future for the people of Nkanu West Local Government Area. While Hon. John Ogbodo embarks on his campaign trail, he remains committed to delivering on his promises of sustainable development, peace, and inclusion for all in Nkanu West.
