In Enugu State, Isi-Uzo Local Government Area is currently plagued by rising insecurity and political division. Killings, kidnappings, and sporadic attacks on border communities have become rampant. The aftermath of the last general elections has brought division and infighting within the Isi-Uzo PDP, the likes of which have never been seen before.
In these challenging circumstances, Isi-Uzo needs a leader who can restore order and unity. Hon. Charles Ilodi, a surveyor by profession and a loyalist of Governor Peter Mba, hails from Ehamufu and is poised to take on the significant task of becoming the next Chairman of Isi-Uzo Local Government.
Hon. Ilodi is a well-known young man whose appeal cuts across various demographics due to his unwavering commitment to the party and grassroots mobilization. During the electioneering period, he was instrumental in these efforts. Serving as the Deputy-Director of Mainstream Media for the Enugu East Senatorial Zone in the Peter Mba Campaign Organization, he played key roles in media engagements, working closely with Dr. Kingsley Udeh, the Honourable Attorney-General of Enugu State, and other committee members.
Additionally, Hon. Ilodi was the State Youth Leader of the New Face of Enugu, a prominent and effective support group that mobilized thousands of voters across the state. He was also an active member of the Enugu East Campaign Council led by Deacon Okey Ogbodo, which focused on voter sensitization in the 17 LGAs of the state. This campaign involved distributing exercise books and visiting churches to canvass support.
During the Ehamufu-Fulani crisis, Hon. Ilodi was involved in delivering relief materials to IDP camps in the Umualor community and conducting medical outreach in rural communities across the 17 LGAs of the state.
It is imperative to note that Isi-Uzo, at present, requires a leader who understands the dynamics of the current challenges. Hon. Ilodi’s passion, enthusiasm, commitment, and people-friendly work ethic position him as the ideal candidate to end insecurity, unite the party, and bring development to the grassroots of Isi-Uzo communities.
