Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State in the early hours of today, 26th July, 2024 called for equity, justice and fairness in the conduct of the PDP Ward Congress in the 260 electoral wards of the state billed for Saturday, 27th July, 2024. Mbah directed that every member of the party be given a sense of belonging.
Speaking during his meeting with Enugu North Senatorial Zone PDP stakeholders at Old Government Lodge Abakaliki Road,Enugu, Mbah also directed that returnees to the party be accommodate, urging members of the PDP to be proud of the party and carry its banner with pride. He also said that every child, woman, and man in the state had felt the positive impacts of the PDP in governance for 24 years in the state.
Mbah, who had earlier in the day held a similar meeting with Enugu West Stakeholders(He would hold another with Enugu East Senatorial Zone), thanked the people of Enugu North Senatorial Zone for their continued support of his administration, saying his administration had left out no section of the state in its development agenda.
"We have embarked on those critical projects that we promised to execute. For example, in the education sector where today we are constructing smart schools across the 260 electoral wards in Enugu State, and we are also doing the same thing in the health sector, building level 2 primary healthcare centres.
"You could see that this is deliberate because we committed to ensure that no section of the state is left out in our development strides; that we just make sure that we run an inclusive government.So, what we do in the area of development, we make sure it cuts across all the sections of our state," Mbah said, as his speech was greeted with much applause from the people.
Governor Mbah also informed the Enugu North Senatorial Zone stakeholders that Abakpa-Ugwuogo-Nike-Opi-Nsukka road had been scoped for dualization work to begin in the next dry season. He also told them that the 31-Kilometre Nsukka-Ibagwa--Ogurute-Ete road had also been scoped for reconstruction in the dry season.
Mbah also said that his administration had upgraded the State University of Medical and Applied Sciences (SUMAS) located at Igbo-Eno in Nsukka to a teaching hospital status, disclosing that the university was being aggressively funded to ensure its full accreditation.
Mbah reiterated that while his administration focused on the deliverables, "we are not unmindful of the fact that we are a product of politics. It is time to consolidate our political base," stating that the PDP had impacted every home in the state.
Present at the meeting were the Enugu State chairman of the PDP, Chief Augustine Nnamani; member of the PDP BOT, Hon. Rita Mbah; Speaker of Enugu State House of Assembly Hon. Engr. Uche Ugwu; Chief of Staff to the Governor, Barr. Victor Udeh; SPA Political to the Governor, Chief Frank Anioma.
On the Enugu North stakeholders' side were former Deputy Governor of the State, Ezenwata Okechukwu Itanyi; former state chairman of the PDP, Engr. Chief Vitalis Abba; former SSGs: Dr Dan Shere and Prof.Simon Otuanya; former chairman of ENSUBEB,Chief Ikeje Asogwa; Secretary of ESUT Governing Board, Chief Chinedu Onuh; members of Enugu State House of Assembly from Enugu North; commissioners and appointees of Enugu North Senatorial Zone extraction and stakeholders of the party in the zone.
