Concerned with the plight of devasted traders who lost their livelihoods after the demolition of the popular Ogige Market in Nsukka, Enugu state, in May2024, Ikechukwu Ezeugwu Foundation has brought succour; hope and relief to affected traders with a N2,000,000 (Two Million Naira) cash donation to kick-start an official fundraising mission to alleviate the plights of the displaced-traders.
In his compassionate address, the Founder of Ikechukwu Ezeugwu Foundation, Rt Hon Ikechukwu Ezeugwu PhD expressed his concern towards the traders that were affected by the demolition, most of who are average citizens of the state. He appealed to all kindhearted individuals and cooperate bodies such as the banks, churches, hospitals and other institutions who have in one way or the other had business transactions with the displaced traders of the Ogige market in the past, to also come to their aid.
Hon Ezeugwu's empathic consolations lifted their spirits as he highlighted the importance of putting their trust in God in any situation. The traders were thrown into jubilation as he officially announced the creation of the "Ogige Traders Support Fund" lunching it with the sum of Two million Naira (2,000,000), a relief gesture aimed at alleviating the financial and psychological consequences of the demolition.
Rt Hon Ikechukwu Ezeugwu's address goes thus ;
OGIGE NSUKKA TRADERS SUPPORT FUND: A CALL FOR EMPATHY
Compliments of the day. I hope that this message finds you well.
Most of us are aware of the recent developments at the Ogige market, Nsukka. The affected traders are in a state of despondency. I have been following up with a keen interest in the outpouring of emotions and concerns on WhatsApp Groups and other social media platforms. In order to demonstrate our love for the affected traders in practical, measurable, and verifiable terms, I am appealing for financial assistance on their behalf in order to assuage their situations. This effort will help them to stabilise emotionally even before whatever money we are able to raise is given to them and before they are compensated by the government. I am aware that the leadership of the market is working with the government authorities to ensure a seamless verification of affected shop owners with a view to doing the needful within the shortest possible time.
Please, no amount of money is too little as a little drop of water makes the ocean. May God reward you abundantly and always meet you at your point of need as you make your donation notwithstanding the economic realities we are presently facing in our country today.
