FG to Build Second Cultural Industry Centre in Enugu

 



The federal government says it has concluded plans to establish a second cultural industry centre in in Enugu State at Obioma community.


This was made known by the Minister of Culture, Arts and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musa-Musawa while receiving the survey plan for the proposed centre from the host community during a ceremony at Obioma in Udi Local government area of the state.


Represented by a director in the ministry, N.U.B Anamah, the minister commended the people for deeming it wise to allow the project to be cited in their community, saying it would create job opportunities for the teeming youths of the area.


Earlier in a welcome address, the people of the community expressed gratitude to the governor of the state, Dr Peter Mbah for bringing the much-needed democracy dividends to their community, expressing optimism that the centre would equip their youths and women with different skills in crafts that are related to culture.


Speaking on behalf of Governor Peter Mbah, the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dame Ugochi Madueke, urged the community to cooperate with the contractors to ensure timely project completion. 


She assured the community that they could expect more projects from the governor, including the construction of a Smart Green School and a Type 2 Primary Healthcare Centre.


Madueke also commended the community for their support during the 2023 gubernatorial election and thanked Prince Ike Chioke for hosting the delegations in grand style.


Also present at the event were the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on SDGs, Hon. Francis Anioke, and prominent members of the community such as Barr. O.A.U Onyema, Barr Uche Ugwu, Prof Ike Onyia and Mr. Joe Onyema


Others were the President General of the community, Mr. Anthony Onyia, the traditional prime minister (Onowu) of the community, Mr. Eugene Eneje, the Chairman of Abba village, Mr Augustine Ude, as well as the cabinet members including Nze Francis Anioke and Nze Dan Onyia.
