The three-hour event commenced at 8 AM from Okpara Square, Independence Layout, Enugu. Many participants, including women stakeholders and leaders of various non-governmental organizations, joined Mrs. Mbah in the march. Their collective presence underscored the urgency and importance of the cause.
Recall that Her Excellency, Mrs Nkechinyere Mbah highlighted the critical need to raise awareness and take decisive action against the exploitation of children during her visit to Smart Green School in Owo in commemoration of International Day of African Child expressing Gov Peter Mbah's commitment to protecting and empowering children to reach their full potential.
The Roadwalk served as a powerful wake-up call, urging all sectors of society to rally their efforts towards creating a future where every child can thrive in safety and dignity. Mrs Mbah urged all women to unite to create a world where children can be children and not be forced into labour.
The event was strategically timed to coincide within the period of World Day Against Child Labour and International Day of African Child, reflecting a broader global effort to combat this pervasive issue. Mrs Mbah urged for a collective action from individuals, organizations, and government institutions, as the fight against child labour is a collective responsibility. She reaffirmed Enugu State government's resolve to ensure that every child has access to education, protection, and a childhood free from exploitation.
