Enugu First Lady, Commissioner for Gender, Wife Of Speaker, Others Graced Enugu Women Monthly Prayer Meeting

 


Enugu women celebrated and dedicate Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah's first year in office to God during the June episode of their Monthly Prayer Meeting. In the event that hosted notable women including the wife of  Enugu State Governor, Her Excellency Mrs Nkechinyere Mbah, the Enugu State Commissioner for Children, Gender Affairs, and Social Development, Hon Mrs Ngozi Enih, the wife of the Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Mrs. Nkechinyere Fina Ugwu, the Deputy Chief Whip of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon. Princess Obiajulu Ugwu, the wife of the Archbishop of the Methodist Church, Mrs Edeh and a host of others.


In her address, the wife of the Governor of Enugu State, Her Excellency, Mrs Nkechinyere Mbah expressed gratitude to the organizers of the prayer program led by Evangelist Dr Favour Ugwuayi, for their dedication and mobilization of women to pray for the state and its leadership. "It is a sign of what we, as women, can achieve when united. Sustaining this program since 2002 is commendable," she said.

She encouraged women to venture into agriculture, pointing out that even those without land can engage in bag farming, a modern agricultural technique gaining global popularity as a strategic solution to the economic and food crises facing the region,b emphasizing onvthe vital role of agriculture in the economy of Enugu State, while highlighting its capacity to provide employment, ensure food security, and supply raw materials for industrial growth. She noted that agriculture is crucial for rural development, poverty reduction, and enhancing the livelihoods of many households. The state's economy benefits significantly from the production and export of crops such as rice, yam, maize, cassava, palm oil, tomatoes, cucumber, and pepper, as well as livestock rearing.


"Agriculture is the best way to curb the food crisis and financial problems," Mrs. Mbah stated. "When we go into farming, we will have enough food to eat, sell, and preserve. We will not be as affected by the ongoing food crisis if we have surplus within our reach." She said.


Mrs Mbah went ahead to highlight her Custos Care Foundation’s schedule, which is set to empower 1,700 women across the state. With each local government area to have 100 women benefiting from healthcare insurance that covers maternal care, child care, and other supports.


The state Coordinator of Enugu Women Prayer Network, Evangelist Dr Favour Ugwuanyi, thanked God Almighty for the success of the event since its inception in 2002. She commended the First Lady Mrs. Mbah for her support so far and assured that the prayer group would continue to mobilize women to participate in the state government's various programs.


Officiating ministers Rev. Canon Francis Ojukwu, Pastor Friday Okafor, and Pastor Johnny Ogbodo emphasized unity, hard work, and prayers for societal development, urging the people of Enugu to support Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah both physically and spiritually.


The prayer meeting was graced by other dignitaries including Heads of Personnel Management in all 17 local government areas, Dr. Okenwa, the chairperson of the National Council of Women's Societies, 11 coordinating ministers of the Monthly Prayer Meeting and wives of former local government chairmen and State House of Assembly members.


Others include; Pastor Kenneth Uzoigwe, Rev. Edwin Njoku, Pastor Mrs. Chinyere Onuoma, Pastor Kalu Ukpai, Pastor Luis Ugochukwu, Pastor Emma Agbalaka, Bar Mrs. Blessing Ogbonna, and Mrs. Shalom Nnaji etc.
