BREAKING: Enugu PDP Bigwig Sworn in as Chairman of Ebonyi PDP Caretaker Committee

 


In a strategic move aimed at restoring stability and enhancing the electoral prospects of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi State, Enugu's erudite and credible party bigwig, Barr Steve Oruruohas been appointed to sanitize and reposition Ebonyi State PDP.

Steve Oruruo, who stands as one of the finest amongst the intellectually gifted and overtly experienced PDP leaders in Enugu will head the Caretaker Committee to consequently rejuvenate the party in Ebonyi State. The former State secretary of the party who was a symbol of standard practices, rectitude, probity and integrity while he served the Enugu chapter of the party was diligently picked by the National Working Committee (NWC) to champion this revival.

Having been inaugurated as the chairman of a 15-man caretaker committee of the party in an event that took place at the PDP’s zonal office in Enugu and presided over by Chief Ali Odefa, the zonal Chairman of the party, there is a renewed sense of optimism that the party will overcome its recent challenges and regain its winning trajectory in Ebonyi State.

During the inauguration ceremony, on Monday, Chief Ali Odefa lauded the national working committee's (NWC) decisive efforts to address the internal conflicts within the party's Ebonyi chapter. He emphasized the exceptional nature of this committee, highlighting the NWC's commitment to resolving the ongoing political challenges.

"Today, I’m deeply impressed with the calibre of persons nominated into this caretaker committee, especially the Chairman and Secretary from Enugu State. They’re people of impeccable character, well-known within the party," Chief Odefa stated. He encouraged the new committee to remain loyal to the party's constitution and avoid undue influence from stakeholders.


Barrister Oruruo, in his acceptance speech, acknowledged the significant responsibilities that lie ahead. He expressed confidence in the newly appointed team, committed to revitalizing the party and restoring its former glory. “We’ve made up our mind to reorganize the party, rejuvenate it, and create a new order of peace and unity,” Oruruo affirmed.

Rt. Hon. Iduma Igariwey, representing Afikpo North/Afikpo South federal constituency, praised the NWC for their proactive approach. He urged all party stakeholders to support the committee in rebuilding the party's foundation, emphasizing the historical dominance of PDP in Ebonyi State since 1999.

The newly formed committee includes notable members such as Barr. Pascal Ukwuani (Secretary), Barr. Jude Omoha, Francis Ibiam, Ude Akaji, Chief Godwin Nwode, Hon. Amechi Oken, Chief Christopher Elechi Ngwuta, Dave Odey, Hon. Ezekiel Igede, Hon. Chika Nwoba, Hon. Emmauel Uka A., Engr. Edward Ifeanyi Odanwu, Okoro Monday Ogbonnaya, and Hon. Mark Onu.


Also present were Chief James Ugwu, the Secretary of the Southeast zone of the party, Rt. Hon. Idu Igariwe, the chairman of the Southeast forum of the House of Representatives, other members of the newly formed and inaugurated committee, various media representatives, and numerous dedicated party faithfuls.
