The solemn departure of Queen Josephine's body from the Eastern Medical Centre in Enugu signifies the beginning of a period of mourning for the Mburubu community. Pallbearers, carrying the queen’s coffin, will make a two-hour journey through the Nkanu lands before arriving at the Igwe Ozulumba Palace in Mburubu. There, the queen's body will rest for a few hours, allowing close family and relatives to pay their tributes and respects.
Accompanied by the Prince of Mburubu Kingdom, Engr. Prince Lawrence Ezeh, and other members of the Royal Family, Queen Josephine's remains will then be taken to St. John Catholic Church Mburubu for public viewing and the funeral Mass. Following the Mass, her remains will be brought back to the palace for internment. A reception will be held at the Community Primary School Mburubu to host visiting guests.
Leading up to Queen Josephine's burial, a wake-keep and night of tributes will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at the Igwe Ozulumba Palace in Umudara Mburubu.
