HUMANITY-2024-26: Gburugburu Free Surgery Programme Saves 4-Year-Old with Strangulated (Congenital) Inguinoscrotal Hernia, Three Others

In a their continued display of compassion and dedication to public health, the Gburugburu Free Surgery Programme, founded by the former Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency Rt. Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, conducted its 26th series of the year 2024 free surgical interventions schedule on April 5th. This noble initiative continues to bring smiles to the faces of Enugu citizens, offering hope and healing to those in need. Among the beneficiaries of this latest round of surgeries, each with their unique medical conditions, are individuals whose lives were transformed by the skilled hands and unwavering commitment of the medical team.

Eze Ikechukwu, a resident of Ovoko, 07033064330, had been grappling with a right inguinoscrotal hernia. Thanks to the expertise of the surgical team, Eze Ikechukwu underwent a successful correction procedure, relieving him from the burden of his condition. Expressing his profound appreciation, he extends heartfelt gratitude to His Excellency, Rt Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, and the entire medical team for their dedication to saving lives and restoring health in Enugu State.


Eze Jonas, hailing from Ukpata and reachable at 08103045151, faced a more complicated challenge with a strangulated left inguinoscrotal hernia. Despite the complexity of his condition, the medical team rose to the occasion, performing a corrective surgery that brought relief and hope to Eze Jonas and his family. He extends sincere thanks to His Excellency, Rt Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, for his visionary leadership in establishing and sustaining the Gburugburu Free Surgery Programme, as well as to the medical team for their skill and compassion in his time of need.

Bethel Jeremiah, a resident of Orba, 07031851661, found solace through the programme after grappling with an abnormal growth compressing his trachea. The skilled intervention of the medical team relieved Bethel of this burden, restoring his ability to breathe freely and offering him a new lease on life. Deeply moved by the generosity and expertise of the programme, Bethel extends heartfelt gratitude to His Excellency, Rt Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, and the entire medical team for their dedication to serving the people of Enugu State.

Attah Ifesichukwu, a tender 4-year-old from Nru Nsukka, 08062943031, faced a dire situation with a complicated strangulated inguinoscrotal hernia. Despite his young age, Attah bravely underwent corrective surgery, thanks to the timely intervention of the Gburugburu Free Surgery Programme. His family extends heartfelt gratitude to His Excellency, Rt Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, and the entire medical team for their compassionate care and expertise, which saved young Attah from a potentially life-threatening condition.

In response to inquiries from the press, Dr. George Ajogwu, the Director-General of the Gburugburu Free Surgery Programme, expressed immense gratitude to His Excellency, Rt Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, for his unwavering support and commitment to the healthcare needs of Enugu residents.
