Prof Ugwu served as the Executive Chairman of Isi-uzo Local Government Area and ALGON Chairman, Enugu State. He was also a Member, Enugu State Committee on Creation of Autonomous Communities, former HOD Political Science and a Senior lecturer in the Department of Political Science of the Prestigious Enugu State University of Science and Technology, ESUT, Agbani, Enugu.
