In a move aimed at enhancing access to quality education for indigenes of Kebbi State, Governor Dr Nasir Idris has approved the allocation of N309,584,041.80 for foreign scholarships. This significant allocation is designated to support students from Kebbi State currently pursuing their studies in India and Egypt.
The State Commissioner of Higher Education, Alhaji Isah Abubakar-Tunga, made this announcement during a press briefing held in his office in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday. According to him, this allocation reflects the government's unwavering commitment to investing in education and ensuring that students from the state receive quality education both locally and internationally.
Breaking down the allocation, Alhaji Isah stated, "The sum of N228,150,148:00 has been earmarked for 63 students studying in India, while N81,433,893:80 is allocated for 23 students studying in Egypt." He further added, "The remaining 50 foreign students will have their expenses settled within the shortest possible time."
This announcement follows the governor's recent settlement of local scholarships for all state students studying in 36 tertiary institutions across Nigeria. Alhaji Isah expressed gratitude on behalf of the Ministry of Higher Education for the governor's continuous support and dedication to the improvement of the education sector in Kebbi State.
