Following the Supreme Court verdict affirming the judgment of the Court of Appeal which held that the Governor Peter Mbah was qualified to run for the office of Governor and validly elected by the majority of the electorates, an Enugu business mogul and philanthropist, Rt. Hon. Chidera Nwodo, has congratulated the governor over his victory.
Rt. Hon. Nwodo, in a goodwill message in his Ukehe country home, at a house warming party, where he formally opened his house, over the holiday's season, and for the new year celebration, called for support among stakeholders in the country and in Enugu State for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, saying with the Supreme Court’s verdicts which put an end to litigation, every hand should be on deck to move the country and the State forward.
While appreciating God for the grace in his business endeavors, Nwodo equally thanked clients for their patronage and for having confidence in solutions that his business in hospitality and real estate sector provide.
Joined by thousands of friends and well-wishers, Nwodo lauded the governor for his uncommon performance in areas of basic and critical infrastructure, education, agriculture and, healthcare sectors, and other social services.
“I want to thank everyone that joined us today to celebrate God’s goodness and grace. Coming from far places to identify and celebrate with us shows the love you have for my family. I will not fail to appreciate all my business partners, clients, and our staff for the confidence you all have in our services. Be assured that we’ll offer our service to you better this new year and improve on our methods through technology in the capacity for innovation.
“Permit me to equally congratulate His Excellency, Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, for his recent victory at the Supreme Court. His victory through the process of the court’s hierarchies shows that the people of Enugu State gave him their mandate at the polls. The courts only affirmed the decision made by our people.
“I want to appeal to our people and to those few who feel aggrieved to understand that politics is over. It’s time for governance. The governor needs our maximum support and cooperation to deliver his humongous promises to the people of the state. Even though he has been working assiduously to ensure a new dawn in the state, without our collective support, nothing much would be done. Let’s also commit to our responsibilities as good citizens to respect institutions by abiding by the social contract and making it work through dedication and devotion to transparency, integrity, and commitment to the aspirations of the new leadership.
“If you look at what the governor has done over the past seven months, you would agree with me that he is on the right path. He promised to give us water in 180 days. Many people doubted his efforts to address the persistent water scarcity in the capital city. But to the surprise and happiness of the people, he delivered within time. Today, he is extending pipes for water reticulation to all the neighborhoods and tactically addressing the water schemes of the rural dwellers.
“If you also look at infrastructure, you will also see a man with the passion to turn the state around by creating new and resilient cities across the state. About 71 roads project are ongoing simultaneously, this isn’t a joke. Some of the road constructions have been completed while others are nearing their completion.
“In education and healthcare sectors, we can see plan for 260 smart schools and 260 modern Type-2 Primary Healthcare centres across the 17 local government areas. This has never happened in the history of our state before. We are glad with the achievements recorded so far, and we have confidence that in the next one year, more would have been achieved.
“The governor is passionate about attracting foreign investments to the state. We saw the African Development Bank, the World Bank, African Export and Import Bank, the International Finance Corporation, and many more picking interest in what the state is doing. It shows a government with focus and commitment to work for the people.
“Let me urge our people that goverment at all levels should be supported to work. The president has been doing his best and he needs the support of every section and zone in the country,” he added.
The ceremony attracted eminent personalities, including bankers, real estate developers, Captains of industries, political leaders, clergymen, royal fathers, amongst others.
