Tragedy Strikes Again in Plateau, Father and Son Slain in another Bandit Attack

Durbi village in the Shere district of Jos East local government area witnessed another brutal attack, claiming the lives of a father and his son. Markus Nyam, the Transition Implementation Committee chairman, confirmed this distressing incident on Sunday.

The assailants struck on Saturday night, leaving the community in shock and mourning. This tragedy compounds the already grim situation in the state, which is grappling with the recent loss of over one hundred ninety lives in the Christmas Eve attacks on Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi local government areas.

Despite the heart-wrenching loss, there were acts of bravery from the vigilant members of the community. Engaging the assailants, they managed to neutralize one of them, forcing the others to flee. Chairman Nyam acknowledged the valiant efforts of these local defenders.

The Joint Security Task Force Operation Safe Haven swiftly responded to the distress call from the community. Their timely intervention prevented further damage and ensured that the assailants did not inflict more harm on the residents.

The Plateau State remains in a state of mourning and heightened alert as security forces continue their efforts to apprehend the attackers and restore peace to the affected communities. The toll on the local population is immeasurable, and urgent actions are needed to address the security challenges that have plagued the region.
