The election, which took place on the 9th of December 2023, witnessed an unprecedented turnout from the community members. The presence of three Toyota Hilux Vans filled with men from the Nigerian security agencies, including the military profoundly and loftly helped in ensuring credible, peaceful and transparent elections as they adquately, effectively and overtly observed the said elections and it's proceses, all with the electoral committee members headed by Mr. Kingsley Onyeji.
Nkpunator Nkpologu Autonomous Community is one of the oldest autonomous communities established by former Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Chimaroke Nnanmani and till today having been enjoying government supports and encouragements.
The election has been widely celebrated and recognized as a true reflection of the people's choice. The presence of Mr. Kingsley Onyeji, the younger brother of the former PG Barr. A.A Onyeji, as the returning officer, under the supervision of the Ministry, the security agencies, and the people of Nkpunator Nkpologu Autonomous Community, added to the credibility of the process.
After a thorough election process, Mr. Donatus Obeta Ezugwu emerged as the winner, receiving a total of 98 votes, while his opponent, Pastor Nicolas Ayanede, garnered 86 votes. Mr. Ezugwu was subsequently declared the winner and presented with a certificate of return to the celebration of the people who have yearned for change from the old ways of doing things.
In his remarks following the election, Mr. Donatus emphasized the importance of transparency, honesty, dedication, and commitment to the development of the community. He expressed his gratitude to Governor Peter Mbah and commended the efforts of Commissioner Okey Ogbodo for ensuring neutrality throughout the electoral process. Furthermore, he expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the people of Nkpunator Nkpologu Autonomous Community for entrusting him with the responsibility of serving as their PG. He assured them that he would not disappoint and promised to diligently fulfill the duties entrusted to him.
In conclusion, the residents of Nkpunator Nkpologu Autonomous Community commend Governor Peter Mbah for his role in facilitating a free and fair election. They are grateful for the conducive environment and equal opportunities provided to all candidates, resulting in a transparent and credible electoral process. The community is optimistic about the leadership of Mr. Donatus Obeta Ezugwu and looks forward to the development and progress he will bring to their community.
