Following the Supreme Court verdict affirming the decision of the Court of Appeal over March 18 Enugu State gubernatorial election in which the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Barr. Peter Mbah as duly elected Governor of Enugu State, the Executive Chairman of Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board (ENSUBEB), Dr. Gabriel Ajah, has visited different churches for thanksgiving, saying God had already destined Governor Mbah to lead the state to a new height of industrial transformation and socio-economic development.
Dr Ajah, accompanied by family members, friends and colleagues, paid visits to the less-privileged where he donated food items and other gifts even as he called for more support and prayers for the governor in 2024 and other years ahead to enable him deliver on the good job which his administration had already commenced.
At the Assemblies of God Church, Nkerefi, where hundreds of worshippers gathered to celebrate and appreciate God for the governor’s electoral and legal victories, Ajah said the governor has done well over the past 200 days in the office, adding that year 2024 would be a magic and transformative year for the people of the state.
He appreciated the people of the four automous communities and Enugu State in general for their unwavering support for the administration, assuring that Mbah would continue to work for them in ways that change their standard of living, eradicate poverty and reposition the state as a hub of investment.
“We are here today to appreciate God for Enugu State, and for the choice of governor he gave our people this year. Governor Peter Mbah is a promise fulfilled.
“Today, anyone that looks at the state will agree that Enugu of yesterday is no longer the Enugu State of today. Things are rapidly transforming and changing for better. That is the kind of choice we made at the polls. We prayed to God to direct our path and guide our decision during the elections, and there Governor Mbah was massively voted across the state.
“Just recently, the governor was able to do a magic and miracle combined at the water sector. It has never been done anywhere in Africa and even in the world that a leader started a water project of this massive nature from the scratch and in less than 180 days, the state is producing 120 million litres of water.
“If you look critically, you start wondering how the governor was able to achieve that within that time. In fact, in some climes, that 180 days phase is a period of planning and design, but the governor changed the narrative. From two million litres to 120 million litres of water daily.
“The administration recently flagged off the construction of 81 roads in the state across the state. We are all beneficiaries of the projects. Some have been completed and works are ongoing in some of them. That’s just phase one of it. It’s a new dawn that calls for celebration.
“On the area of security, I can say confidently and comfortably that Enugu State is the most peaceful state in Nigeria. Before now, we all knew how it used to be. But today, our people came back for Christmas and New Year celebrations because the governor has been able to restore confidence and sanity.
“A lot is going on in all the sectors across the state. This is why we are here to appreciate God and to also pray for the governor and his team to keep on with the good work,” the chairman added.
