JUBILATION: Enugu APPEALS Project Coordinator, Mrs Ihuoma Eze Celebrates Gov. Peter Mbah's Supreme Court Victory, Hails the Decision as a Victory for Democracy and People's Will.

The Enugu APPEALS Project Coordinator, Mrs Ihuoma Eze celebrates the victory of  Enugu State's political landscape that saw a significant turn of events today as the Supreme Court of Nigeria delivered final verdict on Enugu governorship election, upholding the resounding victory of His Excellency, Barr. Peter Mbah, in the state's gubernatorial election.  The Supreme Court ruling has put an end to a protracted legal battle over allegations of certificate forgery.

Mrs Eze expressed her elation and heartfelt congratulations to Governor Peter Mbah in light of this landmark decision.

The crux of the case revolved around the authenticity of Governor Peter Mbah's National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate, a subject that had been the focal point of heated debate throughout the proceedings. The Supreme Court upholds the decision of the appeal court and clarified that Governor Mbah's submission of the NYSC certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was not required for his qualification to run for the governor's office, as his existing eligibility stood independently.

Mrs. Ihuoma hailed the  decision as a victory for democracy and the people's will. She stressed that this ruling not only brings closure to a chapter of political uncertainty in Enugu State but also reaffirms Governor Peter Mbah's mandate as the duly elected leader of the state, a mandate bestowed upon him by the people in the March 18 election.

The Supreme Court solidified the legitimacy of Dr. Peter Mbah as the duly elected governor of Enugu State. The dismissal of the appeal filed by Chijoke Edeoga of the Labour Party marks the apex court's unwavering support for Mbah's victory in the March 18th Governorship poll, as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Mrs. Ihuoma Eze expressed in her congratulatory message that; "Barr. Peter Mbah's victory remains steadfast, reinforcing the democratic process and the judicial endorsements of electoral decisions at different levels"

"Having successfully overcome legal challenges, Governor Peter Mbah can now focus entirely on his good works, confident in the legitimacy of his position as affirmed by the tribunal's decision in accordance with the will of Ndi Enugu"

"This pivotal ruling introduces a fresh sense of stability to the state's political environment, fostering confidence and unity among both its leadership and citizens" she said.

This affirmation follows previous validations from both the tribunal and the Court of Appeal in Lagos. On November 10th, the three-member appellate court, led by Tani Yusuf-Hassan, unanimously upheld Mbah's election, dismissing three issues raised by the Labour Party. The court emphasized the lack of substantial evidence to disqualify Mr. Mbah and debunked claims of over-voting due to the absence of voters' registers before the lower tribunal.
