The Court of Appeal in Abuja has upheld the tribunal's decision, declaring Nasiru Gawuna of the All Progressive Congress (APC) as the rightful winner of the Kano governorship election.
The tribunal, presided over by Justice Oluyemi Osadebay, nullified the election victory of Governor Abba Yusuf, citing that 165,663 votes were deemed invalid due to the absence of signatures and stamps on the ballot papers by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Governor Abba Yusuf, initially declared the winner by INEC with 1,019,602 votes, faced this setback as the tribunal found discrepancies in the authenticity of the votes, leading to this landmark decision by the Court of Appeal.
