The ongoing Governorship election in Kogi state has been marred by allegations of electoral malpractice as officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were reportedly apprehended with pre-recorded result sheets favoring the APC.
Accredited observers, YIAGA Africa, sounded the alarm about the disturbing discovery in Polling Unit 020, Eika/Ohizenyi, Okehi LGA of Kogi state. Similar irregularities were observed in Polling Unit 004, Eni Ward, Ogori/Magongo Local Government Area. Concerns are escalating as it appears that these pre-filled result sheets were in circulation even before the commencement of voting.
Dino Melaye, the PDP candidate in the election, has strongly condemned this electoral misconduct. Melaye alleges that all result sheets have already been filled, prompting him to call on his agents and voters in the state to reject the anomaly. He further urged them to protest until INEC provides transparent and untampered result sheets.
