Governor Peter Mbah has officially initiated the reconstruction and expansion of Enugu's urban roads, delivering on his promise made last week during the flag-off ceremony. This project encompasses 71 urban roads and a 40-kilometer dual carriageway, which will significantly improve the infrastructure and mobility within the city.
The excitement and anticipation of this endeavor have been palpable among Enugu residents. Following the symbolic flag-off held at the Premier Layout road project, awarded to IDC Construction Limited, Governor Peter Mbah vowed to ensure that all 71 roads would be simultaneously executed and completed by the end of December.
Governor Mbah's commitment to this project is evident as he announced, "The funds for these roads have been secured. So, there is no reason the contractors will not complete these roads as and when due. We are not going to entertain any variation, any delay or time overrun because the funds will be provided, and we will ensure that we put in place a close monitor to ensure not only that the standards we have agreed are met, but also that the timelines are met strictly." He further assured the highest quality of road construction to meet the city's long-term needs.
Just six days after the flag-off ceremony, the wheels of progress are already turning as construction activities have commenced from Abakpa Nike down to Nowas in Trans Ekulu. This speedy implementation has resonated with the people, earning Governor Peter Mbah the well-deserved reputation of a "talk-and-do governor."
Under this ambitious initiative, the urban roads will feature well-paved surfaces, eliminating open drainage and providing pedestrian-friendly walkways. The inclusion of streetlights ensures that the city remains well-illuminated, and the roads are built to last.
As Governor Peter Mbah's administration works tirelessly to enhance the infrastructure of Enugu, the residents can look forward to a transformed urban landscape, marked by improved roads and greater connectivity, fostering a more prosperous and accessible future for the city.
