The momentum behind Enugu State's dry season rice farming initiative gained further strength with the comprehensive inspection carried out by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security. The inspection not only covered the extensive Owo, Ubahu, and Amankanu rice fields, as previously reported, but also extended to the neighboring rice fields in Imeoha Community in Nkerefi. This endeavor marked another milestone in Enugu State's ambitious agricultural agenda.

The Owo, Ubahu, and Amankanu rice fields alone accounted for an estimated 2,000 hectares, showcasing the state's commitment to maximizing its agricultural potential. However, the inspection didn't stop there. Imeoha Community in Nkerefi revealed vast rice fields, spanning over 3,000 hectares, within the same Local Government Council, Nkanu East.

This extensive survey reaffirms the dedication of Enugu State and its leadership to harness every available resource for agricultural development. The state's proactive approach to ensuring a successful dry season rice farming season is evident. Enugu is gearing up to bolster its agricultural productivity and contribute to Nigeria's food security.

With the support of federal initiatives, Enugu State's vision of becoming a prominent player in the rice farming sector is well on its way to realization. The additional hectares uncovered during the inspection further emphasize the state's commitment to agricultural growth and prosperity, benefiting both the state and the nation at large.

The inspection team was led by the Commissioner for Agriculture and Agro-Industrialisation in Enugu State, Hon. Patrick Nwabueze Ubru, and accompanied by Mrs Ihuoma Eze, the State Project Coordinator of the Agro Processing, Productivity Enhancement and Livelihood Support (APPEALS) project.

This thorough evaluation is part of Enugu State's preparations for the upcoming dry season farming, aligning with the vision of Governor Peter Mbah to transform the state into a cash crop export hub and uplift its residents from the clutches of poverty.

During a briefing with the media, Hon. Patrick Nwabueze Ubru, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Agro-Industrialization, emphasized the state's proactive measures. Enugu is establishing a land bank to streamline land acquisition for agricultural purposes, with a goal to attract both domestic and foreign investments. This strategic move is expected to fuel industrialization and drive economic growth within the state.

With the combined efforts of the state government and the support of federal initiatives, Enugu State is set to make significant strides in agricultural development and economic prosperity in the coming dry season. The inspection has laid the groundwork for a promising future in the field of rice farming in the region.
