Women-Led Civil Society Groups Launch "Men Support Women International" Leveraging on Collaborative Efforts of Men to Foster Gender Balance

Two prominent women-led civil society organizations, Heroine Women Foundation and Women Support Women For Human Development and Mentorship Initiative, have jointly inaugurated a new initiative aimed at fostering support and collaboration between men and women to advance gender equality. This groundbreaking effort has been officially named "Men Support Women International"

Ambassador Onyinye Mamah, the Executive Director of Heroine Women Foundation and President of Women Support Women, expressed her gratitude for the participation of esteemed men who have joined this mission to support women and girls. In her address, she emphasized the critical role men play in achieving the goals of gender equality and combating gender-based violence. "In my 13 years of providing interventions around gender-based violence, women's participation, and various related activities, I have come to realize that this herculean task cannot be accomplished without the wholehearted and resolute support of our men and the honorable fathers among us," said Ambassador Mamah.

During the meeting, a cohesive group of men came together with a shared vision: to actively support the cause of women in society while also collaborating with women to defend the rights of men. This united force of men and women, dedicated to promoting gender equality, has been officially christened "The Men Support Women International."

In her interview with FountainCare Reporters, the converner, Amb. Onyii Mama said; "Collaborative efforts between men and women are essential for challenging and changing long-standing traditions and societal norms that discriminate against women and impede their freedoms"

However, achieving these goals, particularly in conservative communities, requires a collective effort, hence the initiative of Men SupportWomenInternational"
