Enugu State's political landscape saw a significant turn of events today as the Enugu governorship election tribunal delivered its verdict, upholding the resounding victory of His Excellency, Barr. Peter Mbah, in the state's gubernatorial election. The tribunal's ruling has put an end to a protracted legal battle over allegations of certificate forgery.

Honorable Patrick Nwabueze Ubru, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Agro Industrialisation, Enugu State, expressed his elation and heartfelt congratulations to Governor Peter Mbah in light of this landmark decision. The tribunal, presided over by Justice Kudirat Murayo Akano, delivered a verdict that dismissed allegations of certificate forgery raised by the Labour Party (LP) and the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP).

The crux of the case revolved around the authenticity of Governor Peter Mbah's National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate, a subject that had been the focal point of heated debate throughout the proceedings. The tribunal clarified that Governor Mbah's submission of the NYSC certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was not required for his qualification to run for the governor's office, as his existing eligibility stood independently. Additionally, the tribunal found that the LP governorship candidate, Chijioke Edeoga, failed to provide any credible evidence to substantiate claims of certificate forgery.

The courtroom was filled to capacity with legal representatives from both petitioners and respondents, all awaiting the tribunal's verdict with bated breath. Proceedings commenced promptly at 9:07 AM, with the case of Chris Agu of the PRP against Peter Mbah of the PDP and INEC taking precedence.

Hon. Ubru hailed the tribunal's decision as a victory for democracy and the people's will. He stressed that this ruling not only brings closure to a chapter of political uncertainty in Enugu State but also reaffirms Governor Peter Mbah's mandate as the duly elected leader of the state, a mandate bestowed upon him by the people in the March 18 election.

With the legal hurdles now decisively cleared, Governor Peter Mbah can fully devote himself to the responsibilities of leading Enugu State, secure in the legitimacy of his position as validated by the tribunal's ruling. This landmark decision brings a renewed sense of stability to the state's political landscape, allowing both its leadership and citizens to move forward with confidence and unity.
