The Enugu State House of Assembly has approved a supplementary budget of N58,095,482,293, submitted by Governor Peter Mbah. This financial allocation aims to bolster the efforts of the new government in initiating and executing crucial capital and developmental projects throughout the state.

During the heated debate preceding the budget's passage, Iloabuchi Aniagu, the Minority Leader of the Assembly, expressed his support for the supplementary budget, emphasizing its potential to drive essential projects forward. It is expected that this additional funding will play a pivotal role in addressing key developmental needs across Enugu State.

Deputy Speaker Ezenta Ezeani clarified that the N58 billion supplementary budget should be considered an extension of the 2023 budget and therefore does not encompass new projects currently being advocated for by various stakeholders. Ezeani reassured the public that these new projects would be taken into account in the upcoming 2024 budget, which is set to be presented by the governor in the near future.

Following the budget's successful passage, Speaker of the Assembly, Uche Ugwu, delivered a statement to assure citizens that no part of the state would be marginalized by the government. He pledged that every region would benefit from the development projects initiated by the new administration, emphasizing the commitment to equitable progress and growth throughout Enugu State.

This supplementary budget approval signifies a crucial step in advancing the development agenda of the state government, as Enugu continues its journey towards a brighter future.
