Following the wake of the tragic incident that occurred on September 1st, 2023, in the Coal Camp Settlement of Enugu, where a building collapse claimed the lives of four innocent siblings, the Enugu State Commissioner for Children, Gender Affairs, and Social Development, Hon. Mrs. Ngozi Enih, met with the family to extend her heartfelt condolences and support to the grieving mother, Mrs. Modesta Okeke.

Accompanied by a delegation of government officials, including Hon. Mrs. Dame Ugochi Madueke, the Enugu State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon. Mrs. Chinenyenwa Ogbu, the ENSIEC Commissioner, and the Permanent Secretary of MCGASD, Hon. Mrs. Ngozi Enih visited Mrs. Modesta Okeke at the hospital to offer solace during this trying time.

During the visit, Hon. Mrs. Ngozi Enih expressed her deep sympathy for Mrs. Okeke's loss and offered words of encouragement, assuring her of the ministry's unwavering support throughout her recovery journey. In a gesture of goodwill, the Commissioner for Children, Gender Affairs, and Social Development presented Mrs. Okeke with a variety of gift items, including a cash donation, to help alleviate her immediate needs.

This devastating tragedy unfolded on the night of September 1st, 2023, when a building collapsed in the Agric Quarters of Mgbemena, Coal Camp, Enugu North local government area. The structure, originally approved for animal husbandry purposes, had been illegally converted into residential units, as revealed by Hon. Uche Anya, the Chairman of the Enugu Capital Territory Development Agency (ECTDA), during the investigation of the scene.
