Breaking! Supreme Court Affirms Julius Abure As Labour Party National Chairman, Dismisses Lamidi Apapa’s Led Faction

In a ruling that brings an end to a prolonged legal battle within the Labour Party, the Supreme Court has delivered a decisive verdict, dismissing the case brought forward by the faction led by Lamidi Apapa. The verdict resoundingly affirms Julius Abure as the legitimate and sole National Chairman of the Labour Party.

The dispute, which had been brewing for several months, centered on the contested leadership of the Labour Party. Lamidi Apapa and his faction consistently challenged the legitimacy of Julius Abure's leadership within the party, sparking a legal showdown that has finally reached its conclusion.

A crucial aspect of this dispute revolved around the gubernatorial candidacy of Achonu, who is the Labour Party's candidate for the forthcoming Imo State gubernatorial election scheduled for November. Lamidi Apapa's legal strategy aimed to limit the eligibility of candidates for the gubernatorial race in Imo, Kogi, and Bayelsa States to only those who had been selected through primary elections conducted under his faction's supervision.

With the Supreme Court's resounding decision, not only has Julius Abure been affirmed as the undisputed National Chairman of the Labour Party, but it has also cemented Achonu's position as the sole gubernatorial candidate for Imo State. This ruling is expected to bring a sense of finality to the internal turmoil within the party, allowing them to focus their energies on the upcoming elections without further distractions.
