The Women Support Women Community Network (WOSCONET), a distinguished women's group founded by Amb. Mrs Amaka Nweke JP., has warmly congratulated Mrs Valentina Ngozi Enih, Mrs Adaora Chukwu, and Mrs Ben Ugochi Madueke on their recent appointments as commissioners in Enugu State. The commendation was extended to the Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency, Barr. Peter Mbah, for championing women's inclusion in his administration.
The appointments, which were confirmed by the Enugu State House of Assembly and inaugurated on August 10, 2023, mark a significant step towards gender parity in governance. WOSCONET acknowledged the importance of these appointments in promoting women's active involvement in society and governance.
WOSCONET's Co-founder and Board Secretary, Mrs Valentina Ngozi Enih, was appointed as the Commissioner for Children, Gender Affairs, and Social Development. Joining her were Mrs Adaora Chukwu, appointed as the Commissioner for Trade Investment and Industry, and Dame Ugochi Madueke, who assumed the role of Commissioner for Culture and Tourism.
Governor Peter Mbah's commitment to achieving a milestone on women representation in governance was commended by WOSCONET. The group emphasized the governor's dedication to gender equality and women's rights.
Faith Igumbor, Publicity Secretary of WOSCONET, expressed their support and congratulated the appointees, referring to them as "great amazons." The women's group affirmed their solidarity with the government's efforts to build a more inclusive and equitable society by advocating for increased gender representation in leadership roles, while congratulating Dr. Kingsley Ude who was appointed Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, and other commissioners appointed with them.
