Isiuzo LGA Congratulates Prof. Sam Chijioke Ugwu's Confirmation as Commissioner, Commends Gov. Peter Mbah


In a momentous development, Isiuzo Local Government Area of Enugu State has extended warm congratulations to Prof. Sam Chijioke Ugwu for his appointment and inauguration as Commissioner for Environment and Climate Change by Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah. The Executive Chairman of Isiuzo LGA, Hon. Obiora Obeagu, conveyed his felicitations through a statement released on Friday.
Hon. Obiora Obeagu highlighted Prof. Ugwu's distinguished career as a political scientist and his remarkable service to the community during his tenure as council chairman. The chairman emphasized that these qualities made Prof. Ugwu a fitting candidate for the Commissioner position in Governor Mbah's administration.

Expressing strong confidence in Prof. Sam Ugwu's capabilities, the LGA Chairman on behalf of the good people of Isi Uzo,thanked Governor Mbah for recognizing his aptitude and appointing him to this significant role. The statement conveyed the LGA's hopes for Prof. Sam's success in fulfilling his responsibilities and justifying the trust placed in him by both the governor and the state at large.

Notable aspects of Prof. Ugwu's background include his previous roles as the Chairman of Isiuzo LGA from 2008 to 2012, ALGON Chairman of Enugu State from 2010 to 2012, and Chairman of the governing council at the college of education, Zaria, from 2013 to 2015. He also served as the Head of Department at the Federal College of Education, Zaria.

Prof. Sam Chijioke Ugwu's academic contributions shine through as he held the position of Head of the Department of Political Science at the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) three times. He has also served as the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at ESUT. Prof. Ugwu's academic journey began in 1992 when he joined ESUT, eventually attaining the rank of professor in 2009. His educational qualifications include a PhD in Political Science, along with master's degrees specializing in public administration.

Under the Gburugburu administration, Prof. Ugwu has been an active member of the Joint Action Committee (JAC). Presently, he holds the esteemed position of Dean at the School of Postgraduate Studies in ESUT, reflecting his dedication to higher education and leadership roles.

This appointment underscores Prof. Sam Chijioke Ugwu's significant contributions to both academia and public service, positioning him to contribute further to the development of Enugu State.
